1830 Village of Houghton by George Arnald

A painting by George Arnald (b. 1763 d. 1841) entitled "Village of Houghton". George Arnald was made an Associate Member of the Royal Academy in 1810.

This painting comes from a handwritten and bound album dating from about 1830.

The painting show All Saints Church in the background and one of the many ponds in Houghton Regis, which have dried up in modern times.

Tithe Farm is in the right hand side. The cottage on the left can be seen in a photograph dating to 1914 - 1918 and can be viewed by clicking here.
